EZ Protein

The EZ Protein machine is an automatic protein powder mixing device. Its designed to be on a countertop in a kitchen or gym. It has two hoppers for different dry powders and a tank to hold water. You interact with the touch screen to select which powder to use and how big of a glass you want then it does everything for you.

The powder hoppers were very challenging:

• They had to be fully injection moldable

• They had to easily come in and out and be dishwasher safe

• They needed to operate from one servo motor that was behind the hopper, this one motor needed to drive an auger that moved the powder forward and it needed to drive a rotating flap that allowed powder to fall into the mixing bowl and also keep water from going back into the hopper

I put well over 1000 hours into the engineering on this machine and while the company ran out of funding before it made it to market, I am very proud of what was accomplished. I was able to build a fully functional and visually correct prototype using very large 3D printed parts.
